Preserving the Memories of Grace Episcopal Church

Silver Spring, MD | Fall 2026

At a glance: Five Interviews | Three months | Audio recordings and edited transcriptions.

The Why: Grace church wanted to record the histories of longtime members who have seen how the church’s demographics have changed over the years. These interviews are a part of a larger project, instituted by the Grace History Race and Racism Team. It will also be shared with the EDOW as a part of the Becoming Beloved Community Project.

What I did: I recorded five interviews in the church and over Zoom, with signed consent from each interviewee. I then produced edited transcripts. Topics included: Personal relationship to the church, memories of racial makeup of congregation, and memories of various rectors at different time periods.

The Result: The church now has five audio files and transcripts that they plan to share as a part of the Becoming Beloved Community Project, the Grace Church Community, and that they will save in their archives.
